The 7 Steps to Import Ugandan Coffee
- Decide what you want to buy. Uganda produces 79% Robusta and 21% Arabica. Robusta comes primarily from the Lake Victoria Crescent and Kyoga Plains (Screen 18, 15, 12 grades). Arabica comes from Mount Elgon (Bugisu AA, A, B, PB, Wugar, Drugar) and the Rwenzori highlands. Decide grade, quantity, and target FOB price before contacting exporters.
- Find verified exporters. Uganda has hundreds of licensed coffee exporters. Use the verified exporter directory to filter by region, grade, and certification. Contact 3-5 exporters with the same spec to compare pricing and responsiveness.

- Book logistics. Coffee ships from Mombasa, Kenya (the primary port for Ugandan exports) or Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Transit time to European ports: 18-24 days. To US East Coast: 28-35 days.
