About Uganda Coffee Guide

An independent resource for accurate, research-backed information about Uganda's coffee industry - built for buyers, roasters, researchers, and anyone who cares about where their coffee comes from.

Bringing Clarity to Uganda's Coffee Story

Uganda is one of Africa's most important coffee origins - yet reliable, well-structured information about its regions, varieties, producers, and market dynamics has been surprisingly hard to find. We built this guide to change that.

To be the most trusted, independent source of information on Uganda's coffee industry - free of commercial bias, grounded in research, and accessible to everyone.

Uganda Coffee Exporter was created as an educational and informational resource, not a trading platform. We are not a broker, an exporter, or a sourcing agent. We do not buy or sell coffee. Our sole purpose is to help the global coffee community understand Uganda's unique coffee landscape - from the volcanic slopes of Mount Elgon to the Robusta heartlands of the Lake Victoria basin.

We believe that better information leads to better decisions. For buyers, that means sourcing with confidence. For roasters, it means understanding origin stories deeply enough to communicate them authentically. For researchers and enthusiasts, it means having a reliable reference they can cite and build upon.

Everything on this site is published with transparency, editorial independence, and a deep respect for the farmers, cooperatives, and communities that make Uganda's coffee industry what it is.

The Gap We Set Out to Fill

When we first started researching Uganda's coffee industry - as buyers ourselves - we kept running into the same problem. Information was scattered, outdated, inconsistent, or buried behind paywalls and trade association logins. The official data from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and the Ministry of Agriculture was comprehensive but hard to navigate. Private exporters published glossy marketing materials that told only part of the story. And the few independent guides that existed had not been updated in years.

We realised that the lack of accessible, reliable information was a real barrier - not just for us, but for the entire global coffee community trying to engage with Uganda as a sourcing origin. Promising cooperatives remained obscure. Harvest timings were guesswork. Variety names were inconsistent across sources.

So we decided to build the resource we wished had existed all along: a thorough, well-organised, independent guide to Uganda's coffee industry, built from primary sources, verified through field research, and presented in plain language for a global audience.

No ads. No sponsored listings. No commissions on sales. Just honest, useful information - and a genuine love for Ugandan coffee.

Where the Information Comes From

We take accuracy seriously. Every piece of information on this site is cross-referenced against multiple authoritative sources.

Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA)

The UCDA is Uganda's statutory coffee regulatory body. We rely on their annual reports, statistical bulletins, and regulatory publications for production data, export volumes, and quality standards.

Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries

Government-issued agricultural surveys, zoning maps, and policy documents inform our region descriptions, farmer demographics, and sector overviews.

Field Research & Producer Interviews

We conduct regular interviews with cooperative managers, washing station operators, and farmers across Uganda's five major growing regions. These ground-truth our data and keep it current.

International Coffee Organization (ICO)

ICO market reports, country profiles, and statistical databases provide the global context for Uganda's production and export trends.

Editorial Note: While we strive for accuracy, coffee industry data evolves rapidly. If you spot something that needs updating, please get in touch. We regularly review and refresh our content.
